AIKIDO SWEATSHIRT TONBO BAMBOO

The bamboo aikido sweatshirt is made of two types of material:

  • body and sleeves made of 100% cotton with a basket weave pattern and a weight of 580g/m2,
  • collar, side slit finishes, and inner side of sleeves made of 100% cotton with a smooth pattern.

The sweatshirt style is a cross between a classic judogi where the flaps overlap diagonally and a kendogi where the back and front flaps are made from one piece of fabric. The goal was to eliminate both horizontal and vertical seams on the back as well as on the flaps. Their absence significantly increases comfort during falls where the spine is exposed to potential injury. The applied style allows the sweatshirt flaps to cross higher than in the case of a judogi style. Additionally, the gi is equipped with external and internal hip straps whose task is to keep the front flaps of the gi closed, which is important in aikido where, besides the functionality of the clothing, aesthetics also matter. The cut, more body-fitting than a judogi, helps keep the sweatshirt in place behind the belt or in the hakama. A narrower body and sleeves and a different way of sewing the sleeve itself help keep the keikogi in the right place during training.

The difference between aikido and judo significantly affects the need to use all kinds of reinforcements in clothing for these two martial arts. To improve comfort, we do not use reinforcements on the shoulders, chest, or underarms in aikidogi, which are impractical in aikido and only make the keikogi heavier and less comfortable, especially when it absorbs sweat and gains additional weight. The basket weave itself is durable enough to withstand very intensive aikido training without problems. The sweatshirt is sewn with very tear-resistant core threads.

We sew the Bamboo aikido sweatshirt in 27 sizes divided by height from 155 to 200 cm and by body build:
- for slim people - NARROW,
- for people with a standard build - REGULAR,
- for people with a solid build - LOOSE
in the table below, we provide circumferences to help choose the right size.

The sweatshirt is sold without pants and without a belt.
